We at the Pearl Street church of Christ understand and believe the biblical principle and necessity of having an eldership to govern the congregation.  Jesus is the Head of the Church, (Ephesians 5:23 & Colossians 1:18), but Scripture also establishes the office of the elder (shepherd, pastor, bishop, overseer). The qualifications for an elder of the Lord’s Church are outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

In our current situation the Pearl Street congregation does not have any men capable of serving in the capacity of an elder. It is our prayer that in the near future the Lord allows us to be in a place where we will be able to appoint elders.
